Hello my friends, this is Ken Pickard aka “The Network Dad.” The purpose of this blog is to enlighten, entertain, empower and educate in the incredible world of online marketing. A little about me…

My childhood was a challenging one at best. My parents divorced when I was 3, and on some levels I believed I took some ownership in that. I was always trying to please everyone all the time. As my parents remarried, I inherited a large family of 6 brothers and sisters in 2 separate households, but often felt alone. I helped to raise some of my brothers and sisters at a young age, forcing me to grow up early in some situations. There were many times when I was verbally and physically abused. Even through all the issues I knew other people had it worse than I did. Knowing that would occasionally give me comfort. Not in a demeaning way for others, but in an encouraging way for myself. If they can endure then so could I.

The reason I share a little of my past is to show that we all have struggles, and if we choose to, we can overcome them. I know that God has helped me through many issues and will continue to do so. We all have a past and should not be ashamed of it. This is who we are. This is where we came from. I do not blame anyone for how things have turned out. Every day we have our own choices to make. Wallowing in self pity is not one of those choices I’m going to make.

I have to build “The list” again?

I’ve been failing forward in the home based business for more than 15 years. Made a little and lost a little. I did everything from beating up my warm market to chasing people down the street. Hey I thought they all wanted to buy soap. Everyone needs it right?! Anyway I did everything from dropping sizzle cards to 3 way calls. From booths at trade shows to buying leads. It wasn’t until recently that I even heard of attraction marketing. I didn’t take it seriously until early this year. Over the past couple of years I have poured thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours into personal development, networking, and marketing. Within the last 8 months I’ve totally switched my marketing methods, and now prospects chase me.

There’s a better way…

I heard a while ago that Tiger Woods, one of the greatest golfers of our time, has had up to four coaches at once, two for golf, one for finances and one for life. In fact many if not all of the most successful people have attributed a quantum shift in their success due to coaches and mentors.

I believe that the evolution of online marketing is in building tribes, and content syndication. The power behind these principles is overlooked by many. Think about a team of just a few people following basic guidelines working together for the good of the team. You can either promote your own content and try to compete with everyone else or invest a little time in promoting others and have that time returned five fold. In fact, here’s an excerpt from an article I found recently.

So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Actually the great thing about online marketing, and specifically attraction marketing, is that there’s no wrong way to tell your story. It’s all about you. Just tell it like it is. Don’t worry about not having enough when you grew up or not being the stand out kid in school. Just be you. Believe that you have something to offer and YOU WILL. Believe you can make a difference and YOU WILL.
