This 6 part series of how to make money from your blog will cover a few direct as well as in direct processes for making money from your blog.
Today’s topic “promoting viral content” is one of the quickest ways to get a blog post crafted and promoted. Now before we go much further I want to make sure we’re on the same page here.
A. You either have a blog and you’re interested in learning how to make money or make even more money from your blogging efforts.
B. You’re brand new to blogging and you’re a little curious if you can really make money blogging.
C. You’re not interested in learning anything about content creation, syndication, building a list, or generating passive residual income online. You can go…Google Disney movies or something.
I’m not going to sugar coat things… it can be a challenge to make money from your blog if you don’t have a few things in place first.
The Required Basics Before You Can make Money From Your Blog
Mindset is critical.
You have to know that you’re going to do this…one way or another it’s a done deal. You are ready and willing to roll ups those sleeves and get-er’ done. Commitment is priority. Know your why and stick with it.
Auto responder. This is the tool in which you build you list on. Now truth be told I didn’t get this from the onset. I did it all backwards. Yes I made some good money and I’ll tell you more about that later. But for now, if you don’t have an auto responder you can get one here. Aweber is the industry standard and there’s a $1.00 30 day trial.
Capture pages. This is a page where you enter your name and email in exchange for some information or product. This is the front door to building your list and again we’ll cover a few key points on this later.
So those are the basics; mindset, auto responders and capture pages. Now let’s bring in the traffic!
ERR… WAIT… STOP!
All the traffic in the world won’t amount to squat if you don’t have a high converting offer. So let’s start with the end in mind. Sounds weird to start here? No not really. Knowing what you are sending your traffic to makes a big difference.

Let’s face it, we’re all here to make money. In fact there’s really one reason why you do ANYTHING online. It’s to build your list. Facebook friends = Social media list of followers. Twitter, Youtube, Linked in = the same thing…list of followers.
Now that we have the end result taken care of, let’s continue on with promoting viral content
Promoting Viral Content Q & A
What is viral content? Viral content is content is anything from pictures to videos to blog posts that are making their way through the social media sites at top speed. It’s usually the stuff that you pass around or have seen a few times. Most likely it’s content that’s either funny or edgy.
Why should I promote viral content? Like I’ve said before the main reason why we do anything online should be to attract people, build your list and make money. Unless you’re really here just to be social. With that being said though…one of the quickest ways to attract people is to be “in the know” This can easily be done by speed of implementation, and sharing viral content fits the bill perfectly. Plus YOU really don;t want to be the person who shares only their opportunity right?!
Where do I find viral content to promote? Ahhh…now we’re getting to the meat and potatoes of it all. Here’s where you may want to bookmark this page and refer back to it often as I’m going to list a bunch of places where you can find trending news, videos and articles.
Facebook - You’re already on it right? Simply look around at your most popular friends and see what they are sharing. Look for things that easily catch your eye and what your audience may be interested in as well.
Note that not all images and posts are worthy of sharing. Keep in mind your audience and how you “frame” your shares. Facebook has a trending section as well
Categories – Anything and everything. Depends on who you follow and what you want to be known for.
Twitter - Twitter has this section on the left side of your profile page that shows what’s trending. Before jumping in and sharing just any old thing…make sure it’s something that your audience would like to see as well. Twitter is a different creature for what people are looking for. Here’s another site you check out for what’s trending on Twitter right now called “What the Trend.”

We think the answer lies with people. We humans have an instinct for good stories, and we know the news stories worth sharing with our friends. So we’ve built a technology that tracks all the news shared on Facebook and Twitter each day, to find the fastest spreading, most shared, highest quality stuff, and reveal it to the world.”

Tracking web trends About.com has a great site for tracking trends: Social media, Viral Trends and Meme’s, social networking.

So the next question is…
How do I make money promoting viral content?
Now we come to the age old question. How do I make money sharing viral content?
Here’s the skinny…content is being shared all the time. We usually find some post from one of the sites listed above and simple promote it to our social media channels. This keep us in the fore front of our followers. Most social media strategists wills ay to post on Facebook 3-4 times a day and a quick push of a share button will do just that.
But in all honestly it’s not going to get you anywhere near your goals like most think it should.
Step 1. Get yourself a self hosted blog on Empower Blog. Click here
Step 2. Instead of simply sharing a good piece of content directly to your social sites…add it to your blog. Bonus points if the content your sharing is something that your passionate about. Hence the term…”Cash in on your Passion”
As you can see from those posts that’s it’s not hard to craft a simple review of a trending piece of content. And since there is a ton of killer content people eat up every day, it’s not hard to find something worth talking about.
You can also leverage other people’s content by using it to state your positio0n on a subject. For instance gun control is a hot topic in the US right now. Leverage a piece of content and state your position on the subject.
You’re probably saying that’s all well and good…where does the money come into play?
Easy…The first thing is your exposing people to your blog with all it’s juicy opt in offers without directly hitting them over the head with it. The next thing is you’re call to action is leading them to opt in here.
