Manball… what is it all about? I’ll get to that right quick, but first a little story time.
A while back my business partners and I all met in San Diego. This was an exciting time as this was the first time we’ve met each other. I know… not to many people start a company with people they’ve only met online, but we did!
If you’ve been following any of the Empowered Tribe you know we don’t do things normally. And by normally I mean marketing online. It seems people start out with a few affiliate products, try to market their MLM and get confused along the way.
Well we’re a little different. Kary, Nick, Jon, Mike and myself all came together for the sole purpose of getting some free traffic to our blogs. We started a syndication group that met weekly. It grew so well so fast that we thought we needed to share our new found love for blogging and syndication with a few other people. So we developed our first product Tribe 1.0, then our second Tribe 2.0, then we formed a company Empowered Tribe, then we had our first gather and live event. A little backwards to say the least.
With all that… in the first 7 months of connecting on line… we’ve had a few issues to overcome. Yes believe it or not, not everything went perfect. For those who have been following us from the beginning I know it looked that way… ok you can stop laughing now! Anyway the 5 of us actually gel pretty well together. But there are times we don’t all agree. Shocking huh? Well it’s like being in a band. We’re working a lot of hours, putting things together and we don’t have the luxury of living in the same state let alone anywhere near each other. Speaking of bands… now don’t tell the others, but I think we look like a boy band in this picture above.
So why am I telling you all this. I want to illustrate the power of a good mentor and teamwork. You’ve probably heard of Jonathan Budd. The 5 of us have all cut our teeth on Jonathan’s products and trainings. We all consider him one of our main mentors and if it wasn’t for JB I’d still be trying to figure this whole Internet marketing, personal branding thing all by myself! And let me tell you I would not want wish my first 6 months of online struggle to anyone. Except to say that everyone needs a mentor and coach. Heck if top athletes have several different coaches for different areas of their game and life, then why are you holding back and trying to do it ALL BY YOUR SELF? If you can relate give me a WHOO HAA!
OK back to the reason for the post. When the Tribe was down in San Diego, we ere able to play little Manball with Jonathan Budd and Aaron Fortner and hang out for a few hours after wards. This time we spent with ours mentors is PRICELESS! If you EVER have the chance to connect with those you really resonate and learn from DO IT! I’ve met JB, Aaron, Katie several times now and it’s well worth it!
Now my good friend and business partner Nick just hooked you up with a little inside scoop on what really went down on the “Manball” court. Enjoy… and leave a comment on Nick’s YT channel on how well he did editing this video. Just double click the video and it will take you right to his channel.

P.S. I just want to know 2 things.
- Tell me a time when you’ve met someone like your mentor or coach who you’ve only spoke with over the phone or online, and what did it mean for you.
- What do you do for fun to ease the stresses of life? Please share with the community and lets start making things happen!
P.S.S It’s time we show people how to PLAY ALL OUT! Oh and make sure you have your GRAVATAR set up so we can see your smiling face.

Ken,
I guess the thing I remembered most when meeting one of my mentors face to face was that he was just a person like everyone else. It was great to see that side of him.
Fun & relaxation – that would be hanging out fishing or at the coop on the farm. Time to disconnect from technology and enjoy laughing with friends and building memories.
Oh yeah, even picking berries – mosquitoes, brambles and all.

Val,
That’s awesome and your right on. I realized the same thing. We put people up so high based on what they’ve done, and when we realize their human just like us, well it’s pretty cool. the real difference is that they have just gone before us or have put more work into it.
Ken
I have not had a chance to meet my mentors yet – but look forward to that day:)
Relaxing for me includes unplugging and disconnecting from technology and just hanging out with friends and family – whether by the pool or watching our favorite sporting event.
I love the manball video – the editing and music are awesome:)

Glyna,
Thanks for the comments. Unplugging from technology…what? HAHA. I get it. Yes, unplugging is vital once in a while. Especially if you have a family and want a little sanity in your life.
Ken
A relaxing game of “Manball”? Well it didn’t look that relaxing to me. It looked like a lot of hardwork, but it seems like you were all having a very good time.

Tim,
We work hard and play hard…that’s how we roll! But it was still a great time to connect with those you respect. Thanks for the comment.
Ken
This video is so much fun. Its really nice to meet up with friends and do MANBALL. It’s really worth it to have this kind of bonding with mentors. =)

Jon,
It was a lot of fun. If I remember correctly I think Team Sweden beat Team USA. Bit I think a rematch is due.
Ken
Oh no, manball is spreading…

Great video….love the music! Looks like you guys had a blast!
I too have found mentors online, and have even formed a business partnership with one of them – much like you’ve done with Kary, Nick, John, and Mike. The internet is an amazing tool for us to connect with other like minded people from all around the world.
As far as relaxing, I enjoy anything water related – boating, going to the beach with a great book, floating in the pool, enjoying the beauty of waterfalls and lakes. Very soothing…

Kathy,
Thanks for the comments. Connecting with like minded people like yourself is truly rewarding. It’s been great reading your relaxing posts. I can hear you really resonating with where you are.

WHOO HAAA!!
I can relate, for sure! I feel very close to Kathy Jodrey and I have hired her to do work for me and yet we have never met in person.
Also, to relax, I love to be outdoors. Anything outdoors, even pulling weeds or sweeping the patio is OK. The feeling of wind or sun on my face is like heaven!
Great questions Ken.
WHat a fun day we had!!!
