The other day I wrote a post called MLM Support The One True Way To Help Your Team. Well today is part of of this series focusing on the leadership aspect of what true MLM support really is.
Now my original though for starting that past was 2 simple words. But I never got to them.
That post took on a life of it’s own and ended up with the focus being on support from the company view point. So lets start off this post the right way.
MLM support – All In Financially
There are several ways and strategies to support a successful growing mlm team and you want to take every advantage in doing so. But the first item to cover and the most important question to ask yourself…
“Am I all in?”
What comes to mind when you think of these simple little words…all in? I’ll let you leave a comment below and let the community know but lets start with a little story…
A mentor of mine (let’s call him Dave) was sharing a struggle that he overcame a few years ago and it went something like this…
Dave was trying to sell a top package that his mlm company was selling. He was working all his leads like he was supposed to. He was doing all the follow up like he was taught. He was pushing it hard. He was a grinder, spend 10,12, 14 hours a day working his business. And as it happens when it came time to the close all his prospects would buy the lower level products.
Why?
Good question and I’m glad you asked…I asked as well. Dave went to his sponsor, like he’s supposed to, and sought guidance to this very issue. Her reply?
“Why would they? YOU don’t have it.” His reply…
“Well no…so what?” Here reply…
“If you don’t have it then you don’t know what’s in it or what it does for people. You are not ALL IN. and until you get all in don’t call me back asking for help.”
You might be saying “Ouch!” right about now right? This a little harsh or is it? But here’s what happened next. Dave gathered the money, bought the higher package, got all in, and made $22,000 the following month after only making a grand or so the previous month.
If you didn’t see a light bulb pop in your heard right about now read that last paragraph again.
What changed? Dave changed. His mindset changed. It wasn’t the product. It wasn’t the cost, the money he didn’t have to get the higher product. It was his mindset. It was his commitment to his business. He was all in financially. Some people will say I don’t have the money.
They will give you every excuse there is…if you let them…on why or how they can’t get all in. And that’s ok. Love them and let them go. Because at the end of the day if they really want to know HOW to make money and HOW to get the best mlm support from you they need to be all in. But even before that YOU need to be all in.
MLM Support – All In Mentally and Physically
If you can prove this point for me then leave a comment below and give me an example. Here’s a few of mine.
I once woke up at 3:00 AM Saturday morning and drove 400 miles south for an all day event with my mlm business in Los Angeles. It was one of the first events on the west coast where there was going to be a bunch of top leaders and the company president. I was jacked and could not get to sleep the night before until about midnight.
So on less than 3 hours of sleep I started my drive. I stopped briefly to grab a couple of power drinks and just cranked the music the entire way down. I remember driving about 80 or so down I5 and watching the sun rise while I was cruising along. I arrived about 30 minuets before the event and was ready to rock!
I was given the opportunity to share my testimonial and met the founder of the company. A good day to say the least.
Fortunately this was a one day event as I also had planned to see my grandparents the following day…150 miles North of where I live. So needs less to say I had to drive even further that night and the next day. So what did I do?
I stayed for the THE MEETING AFTER THE MEETING. There is nothing better than to hang out the cream of the crop after a presentation. We sat around the bar in the hotel and downed a couple and was able to really connect. So much so that I even went out to dinner with some of them.
A core group of about 10 people, most of which are low to mid 6 figure earners. So you bet I took them up on it. What would you do in this situation?
Needless to say I didn’t start driving my next leg of the journey till 11:00 PM Saturday night. Grabbed a couple more energy drinks. Made about 200 miles until I had to crash at a cheep hotel for all of 5 hours and got to my grandparents at around noon on Sunday. Stayed for a couple hours and then headed home with 2 hours of driving ahead of me. All that and I still made it to work on Monday, albeit a little tired.
I have another dozen or so extreme, went out of my way to attend an event, kind of stories. Do you?
So what’s the wrap up here?
The main thing to really drive home your mlm support for your team is to be ALL IN flat out period!
Be ALL IN with all the products.
Master the information process and system.
Be a product of the product.
Attend all events.
Be a leader your team needs.

I’ve always heard Ken that the people you speak with will join at the level that you do. I always join at the top level because to me this is a business investment, not a hobby. Unfortunately, I still have people come in at the lower level but I know from experience that these are the ones that are not fully committed.
I just joined a new opportunity last month so we haven’t had an event yet. There is one coming up soon though.
I have attended past events although I will admit, not all of them. The reason for that was they weren’t training events and I learned from the first one that the people I really wanted to connect with were NOT approachable. They had a totally different mindset so if you were not at their level, they had nothing to do with you. Great leadership right! Guess you now know another reason I’m no longer with them.
Great lesson you shared Ken and I understand exactly what you mean. You definitely have to be fully committed in order to make things happen. There is no other way in my opinion.

This is a really good topic Ken and I’m glad you covered it, because this is something that I only really thought of fairly recently.
The first company I ever joined only had one joining level and so this type of issue never crossed my mind until I joined a high ticket opportunity where there was the option to join as an affiliate at a vastly reduced rate or at the full membership. Once again, it never crossed my mind as I had joined for the mentor and coach and so happily joined at the high level.
BUT – having just recently joined something that I only joined to use as a tool rather than as a business, I joined at the level I needed for the tool to pay for itself by joining up affiliates. Having had huge success in my first month, I didn’t hesitate to upgrade at the first opportunity, but I do see that what you are saying is very true because when I joined at the lower level, that’s exactly what I encouraged people to do.
There is no point “dipping your foot in” in this business – you either want to build a business or you don’t – no hobby business for me !!

This is so true Ken.. I actually mention to people when I am sponsoring them that by picking the lower package they will only sponsor people to the lower package. I don’t know how many times I have had people ask me well which package did you come in with? Of course it is always the highest because I know better. Not to mention I cannot name one person that has made it in MLM with out going all in. Is it a mental mind block it sure is..
Team support is huge and you bet your bottom dollar I always stay for the meetings after the meeting!! That is where you learn the most!! Thanks Ken for sharing your awesome knowledge.. Keep on leading!!

Right now, I threw all but one MLM off the table. I\\\’m in my batwoman cave developing another product. I did my Free Product, but now working like a mad woman to create a paid product. Right now that\\\’s where I\\\’m at and working the social media platforms, learning more and more about it. I\\\’ve gotten to the point of creating a team. I have one person assisting me…that\\\’s a great milestone for me. As my fingers fly across the keyboard until the wee hours of the morning, my product will be a continuity one. That takes lots of time and energy before the kickoff. I\\\’m also taking a course in the middle of all this madness. But when it comes to taking on another project, I need a rain-check. I wish you all the success you deserve! AND…I\\\’ll spread out your news of course.Donna
Love this Ken… both of your examples.
I was also in a top tier direct sales company a few years back and it’s true what you say — if you don’t have a product, how can you recommend it to others? By what others say?
Your heart won’t be in it, and you won’t make many (any) sales as a result. I know that many will say they can’t afford it, but the harsh reality is that until you make that commitment, your business will flounder.
As for “being in” physically and emotionally, we had a similar experience attending our very first live event. Rosemary had been diagnosed with breast cancer 2 weeks before, but we decided to invest in our future and flew half way across the country to meet all the leaders in our new company.
We were looking to the future, not cowering from the present circumstances.

This is 100% true Ken.
A few years back, I was building an MLM with a company who had a $29 start up and a $250 pack. Most folks took the cheaper option (less risk etc) but out of the ones taking the $250 starter pack 50% or thereabouts made it past the first level in the compensation plan. I’d explain to people that a small shift in cost often equals a big shift in commitment. Great topic!

Ken,
This is so true, I have heard time and time again that your team will do what you do, but not what you say you do. I agree, you got the be product of the product and basically walk your talk.
I remember with the Network marketing company I was with I went for an event in Barcelona. I had to travel from Auckland, New Zealand and financially I wasn’t in the best shape. Anyway I haven’t missed an event up until then I wanted to go & had to look for the cheapest flight. Now this ended up me going from Auckland -> Shanghai -> Moscow -> Barcelona. I slept in airports like a backpacker. But to tell you the truth, all that tiredness was gone no sooner I entered that event venue.
Thanks again for sharing this Ken
