This page will highlight the tools I use for social media, online marketing and personal development. The layout is to illustrate the power between social media marketing and promoting you as a leader.

By having the right tools for the right job, you can set yourself to ‘LEVERAGE’ both time and money. Ask any professional how important the right tool for the right job is. There’s no difference for an online marketer. If you want to play in the same sandbox as the big boys, you need to bring your own toys.

Twitter allows you to have a powerful voice on one of the latest and fastest growing social sites. Twitter is a micro-blog site that allows you to post ‘Tweets’ of up to 140 characters. However this is only the beginning. Twitter is easy to learn but takes a seasoned pro to master.

It’s not enough to have thousands of followers if no one is listening to you. Most are using Twitter for self promotion only. These would be the spammers that ONLY promote their offers. Twitter is not the place for the personal pitch fest or classified add section. You can pick up a copy of the Penny Saver for that.

To have a powerful presence on Twitter you need to follow, engage and promote. Promote others more than yourself and you will soon see a flood of people promoting you. Twitter is the front door of the party. It’s where you say hello and strike up a little conversation. Then if you like the other person you can invite them into the living room… aka Facebook.

YouTube is the big kahuna for video sharing. We all know this to be true with over 20+ hours worth of video being upload every 60 seconds. I’ll repeat… 20+ hours worth of video being upload every 60 seconds. WOW!!! That’s a beast of a tool.

This medium should NOT be overlook. I know many people don’t like to get in front of the camera, but if have a want or need to be successful, this tool can really put the boosters in your rocket. If I can go from… not being able to lead you in silent prayer… to making videos for thousands to see… THEN SO CAN YOU!

Pixlr - picture editor…for your videos! Now for a really cool video tip to make your videos pop just that much more. Check this baby out. It’s a free web based tool that allows you to edit pictures and add them to your video. Want you video click rate to soar. Just add a little magic. My friend Jonathan Budd shares a little sneaky sneaky video ninja trick with this program. Check out his training video Pixlr.

Facebook is the place to be. The grand daddy of them all with over 500,000,000 users world wide! That’s a whole lot of potential relationships. This is really where we get to know people. You have your info section, bio, pictures, links, favorite books, movies, etc, so people can get to know you a little more. This is the main event and party headquarters.

All avenues from all the social media sites should point back to your blog. Your blog is the hub, the epicenter for all you do. This is where the rubber meets the road. This is what separates you from all the others who are just hanging around on the socials sites.

Those with out blogs or just have links to their biz ops are just waiting. Waiting for someone pick them up… like people at a bus stop…waiting or something. As a professional marketer your blog is the meeting place. This is your home. Break out the welcome mat and let them know you are here to serve.

Wordpress.org is the premier platform of choice for bloggers. There are other services but the vast amount of successful bloggers are either using or moving to WordPress.org.

Word press has two flavors to choice from .org and .com.

WordPress.org Pros
• You own it – It’s all yours… your content. You keep it and put up there what you want. You can monetize the heck out of it.
• Plugins and widgets – Ah… the cool tools to pimp your pages and posts. There’s thousands of plugins and widgets at your disposal They add functionality and originality.
• Theme – The layout of your blog can be as unique as you. You can find your style amongst the myriad of theme.

WordPress.org Cons
• Hosting account – Even though WordPress.org is free a hosting account is required. They cost a few dollars a month, or you can save a little more if you buy the yearly plan. The hosting account is where you store files that are required on your blog.
• HTML – No it’s not the latest virus. This is geek talk for programmers and designers. Don’t worry if you don’t know this stuff, there are many people who would love to help. Visit my ‘Introduce Yourself’ Page to meet some great people who understand and love by… the ‘code’
• You own it – this is a pro and con. Just like owning a car or house, you are responsible for the maintenance and upgrades. Backup is king and stuff happens.

WordPress.com Pros
• Free – Free is good
• WordPress takes care of all your upgrades, backups, setup, and you don’t need any of that geek stuff.

WordPress Cons
• No money – You can not monetize your blog. No sales, no pitch, no nothing. These sites could be good for book review… if that’s all you want.
• Not your unique domain – Your blog contains the .wordporess.com suffix.
